Practice the Pause

Today’s Path

Step 1 of 3: Learn

Complete Learn and Practice to unlock.

Step 1 · Learn · Stay in Control

One breath before the first sentence

Build one reliable pause between the trigger and your answer. · About 6 minutes.

A pause is not backing down. It is the difference between the sentence you meant and the sentence you have to walk back.

One slow breath is usually enough. Longer pauses work too, as long as you say when you are coming back.

Build the pause before you need it, and it will be there when you do.

Write It Out, Then Hear It Back

If it helps, take a few minutes to write privately in your own notebook. Reading your words out loud can help you slow down, hear your thoughts more clearly, and decide what matters most before you respond.
